Michigan State University/Michigan Vascular Center Vascular Fellowship Program in Flint, MI is now accepting applications from qualified surgical residencies to fill two newly accredited ACGME positions beginning 07-01-2013. This is a 2-year ACGME accredited (5+2) vascular surgery training program. The program was recently approved at the November 2012 meeting of the RRC and, consequently, was not able to participate in the 2013 match. This is a community-based program covering all aspects of vascular medicine, vascular and endovascular surgery. Michigan Vascular Center (MVC) is one of the oldest private-practice vascular groups in the United States, having started in 1963. The distinguishing characteristics of MVC are innovation, research, efficiency and a broad exposure to a wide range of vascular pathology and coordination of patient-centered care to improve outcomes. Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH)/University of Miami (UM), Division of Vascular Surgery now offers a newly ACGME/RRC accredited Fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Graduates from this program will be eligible to take the Vascular Certifying Examination and thus obtain a Vascular Certificate. The JMH/UM medical campus is a tertiary referral center, situated in downtown Miami. The program offers the full range of elective open and endovascular training procedures. Additionally, the JMH/Ryder Trauma Center is the 2nd largest level one trauma center in the nation and offers a full complement of complex emergency vascular/endovascular reconstructive procedures. The program offers ample opportunities for clinical research involvement with potential for academic presentations and publications.

With ACGME approval the University of Washington (UW) Division of Vascular Surgery now offers a 0+5 vascular surgery integrated residency program leading to board certification in vascular surgery.
The first two years will include clinical training in core surgical education and the final three years will comprise senior-level training in vascular surgery. The new residency program will add one candidate per year (directly following medical school) and will complement our existing two-year AGME-accredited fellowship.
The UW vascular surgery training program provides a comprehensive “immersion” in the diagnosis and management of all aspects of vascular disease in a multi-disciplinary context. Our new residency program represents a major time investment, is aligned with the young vascular surgery trainee’s career focus, and will certainly produce highly trained and qualified surgeons.

The Division of Vascular Surgery at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center has an unexpected opening for a vascular fellow starting July 1, 2011. This two-year ACGME-approved program, functioning since the 1960s, is dedicated to producing well-rounded vascular surgeons who will be comfortable with both endovascular and open surgery, vascular laboratory evaluation, advanced imaging modalities and clinical research.
The trainee will perform an adequate number of open and endovascular procedures, participate in several clinical trials and gain experience in urban and suburban outpatient settings, as well as dedicated endovascular suites. The two fellows rotate to two large teaching hospitals, one in Newark and one in a nearby suburb. Additionally, they do a two-month rotation at the Cleveland Clinic. The lovely communities surrounding Newark provide suitable opportunities for family life and recreational and cultural activities.
