The SVS Women’s Issues Committee presents its second SVS Women and Diversity Leadership Retreat, October 22-24, 2009 at the Viking Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island. The Retreat is designed for attendees to expand their knowledge of current trends affecting diversity issues within the vascular surgery specialty, acquire a better understanding of the personal and professional pitfalls in addressing diversity issues; and create a plan to identify personal priorities and long-term career choices to advance the position of women vascular surgeons and surgeons with diverse backgrounds and the health care of those patients. Held at the San Francisco Hilton, this one-day conference is designed to encourage interaction between vascular surgeon investigators and scientists from other vascular biology-related disciplines. Held at the San Francisco Hilton, this meeting includes diverse disciplines within the arteriosclerosis, thrombosis and vascular biology communities that allow investigators to explore areas of cross-disciplinary interests. A broad representation from many disciplines is expected and young scientists are encouraged to attend.
