At the 2009 SVS Annual Business Meeting the membership voted on new SVS members, officer vacancies, and several bylaws amendments.

Bylaws Amendments

A summary of major bylaws changes that were approved at the meeting by the membership including the following:

• Candidate membership will be extended from one year to three years after completion of residency.
• There are two eligibility options for membership: board certification in vascular surgery or documentation of practice dedicated to vascular surgery.
• The vice president will accede automatically to president-elect.
• The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors will be codified, rather than discretionary.
• The name of the Recorder officer position will be changed to Vascular Annual Meeting Program Chair.
• After being delinquent for 12 months, a member will be notified that he/she will be dropped from the Society's membership roster. Ninety days following the notice, if dues are still delinquent, the member will be dropped from the Society's membership. (Formerly, members stayed on the roster an additional 12 months even though dues were unpaid.)
