2009 Vascular Surgery Match Results
Vascular Surgery Integrated Program Match Results
There are currently 19 0+5 vascular surgery integrated programs. The integrated training program match results for 2009 reveal an increase in applicants with 152 total applicants. All 19 positions for the 0+5 programs have been filled. Other highlights include:
- Some programs, such as the University of Massachusetts, reported over 100 applicants.
- The number of interviewees has dramatically increased in three years: Nine in 2007, 30 in 2008 and 120 in 2009.
- Ranked positions have dramatically increased in three years: Nine in 2007, 20 in 2008 and 66 in 2009.
2009 Vascular Annual Meeting® Abstracts on 0+5 Applicant Pool
Two abstracts from the Friday, June 12, 10:20 a.m. SVS Plenary Session will detail more information on the 0+5 applicant pool:
- An Increasing Demand for Integrated Vascular Residency Training Far Outweighs the Limited Supply of Positions
- Who Is the Integrated 0+5 Vascular Surgery Residency Applicant?
Vascular Fellowship Match Results
The overall match rate for the vascular surgery two-year fellowship had a slight decline for 2009 leaving 13 unfilled positions. There were three less programs and positions in the match and the number of applicants decreased by 26 from 2008.
