New in 2009

You may have noted that the newspaper you have in your hand is the January 2009 issue, not the January-February issue. That is because beginning in 2009 we are increasing our frequency of publication from 6 to 10 issues per year--every month except August and December (which will still be covered as part of dual issues in July and November).

Our goal is to fill these additional issues with more news about the practice of vascular surgery. We plan more stories dealing with important clinical subjects on managing carotid, aortic, and lower extremity arterial disease; and more noteworthy information about venous disease and vascular medicine.

As in the past, the news will be timely, up to date, and edited for quick reading. Insightful comments by members of our editorial board will continue to highlight the key points of our stories.

Veith’s Viewpoint remains a reader favorite as Frank expounds on subjects ranging from endoluminal therapy to health care financing or residents' work hours. With additional space available for editorial commentary, we will turn to our editorial board members to address issues that are on their minds. If the subject concerns vascular surgery or surgeons, we want to publish it in Vascular Specialist.

But we also want to hear from our readers. If there is something you want to get off your chest--whether it's about one of our stories or an issue that needs "airing out"--write us a letter. We also invite you to submit longer, conventional editorials up to 600 words in length, and we will try to publish as many as space permits.
