Fellowship Development Assistance Program

To help increase the number of U.S. vascular fellowship programs, the SVS and the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery (APDVS) have a new program to help SVS members begin new or expand existing fellowship programs.

Today there are many high-volume and quality vascular surgery practices that could sustain a vascular fellowship. The Fellowship Development Assistance Program (FDAP) is positioned to help create new program applications to the ACGME. FDAP resources include:

  • Access to program directors with experience in the various fellowship paradigms (5/2, 4/2, 3/3, 0/5) for advice and council regarding the application process.
  • Talking points for gaining support from your general surgery program director and/or your hospital administrator for a new fellowship position.
  • Templates and examples of successfully submitted PIFs for the various fellowship paradigms.
  • Additional documents to assist you in completion of your PIF.
  • The SVS will provide the services of a seasoned fellowship administrator to assist in the creation of or review of your PIF.
  • Access to the vascular surgery representatives to the Residency Review Committee (RRC) for questions regarding the accreditation process.

To see PIF examples, the names of the RRC representatives, or access to the consultant, please e-mail education@vascularsociety.org. For more information on the FDAP, visit www.Vascular Web.org
