Dr. James S. T. Yao, professor emeritus in vascular surgery in the department of surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, was presented the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Lifetime Achievement Award at the 61st Annual Meeting of the Society for Vascular Surgery on June 7, 2007.
As a leader in vascular surgery in the U.S., Dr. Yao is noted for his contributions in the area of the vascular laboratory and clinical surgery. This award is the highest honor bestowed by the SVS on one of its members. It recognizes an individual's outstanding and sustained contributions to the profession and the SVS, and honors exemplary professional practice and leadership.
Dr. Kellie R. Brown, who is an assistant professor of surgery in the division of vascular surgery at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis., was presented with the inaugural Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Women's Leadership Training Award at the 61st Annual Meeting of the Society for Vascular Surgery on June 7, 2007.
The new SVS Women's Leadership Training Award, is supported by a grant by W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc., and is intended to assist female vascular surgeons to become leaders and mentors in the vascular surgery specialty. The award is given to a deserving SVS member who is a practicing female vascular surgeon to attend a leadership training program.
