Vascular Registry Now Available Online

What is the Vascular Registry?

The Society for Vascular Surgery has developed a vascular registry to collect outcomes data on carotid artery stenting and on carotid endarterectomy.

Why is this important? CMS requires data collection on high-risk patients undergoing carotid artery stenting in order for a site to be reimbursed. Participation in the Vascular Registry will enable your facility to comply with this CMS requirement. When will the registry be available?

Web-based submission on easy-entry forms is available now.

What will my facility get when it participates in the registry?

Automated reports will be available to participating sites with the following data:

PIConfidential benchmarking reports comparing site-specific CAS baseline risk factors and complication rates to other institutions performing the same procedure.

PISite-specific CEA vs. CAS comparing baseline risk factors and complication rates over time in your facility.

PISite-specific CAS results by individual provider. The site will determine access to provider level data.

PI"Real time" access to all your data, and the ability to download your own data for analysis.

What are the benefits of participation for facilities?

PIThe registry is available now--sites will be able to provide 6-month interval data to CMS.

PIThe registry provides an easy-to-use, cost-effective way for a facility to meet CMS regulations for payment of carotid artery stenting.

PIThe registry provides a downloadable database of all carotid procedures performed at an institution, with ability to assess correlations among practitioners, procedures, comorbidities, and outcomes.

Additional features include:

PICollection of ongoing follow-up data, even beyond 1 year.

PICollection of both stenting and open repair data for comparison.

PIDownloadable institutional data for additional analyses.

PIReal-time comparative reports.

Some additional specifics about the registry:
