Candidate membership may be granted to physicians who are currently enrolled or accepted into accredited vascular surgery residency training programs in the United States and Canada. The term of Candidate Members is limited to a maximum of one year after completion of their vascular residency program or subsequent continuous academic or clinical training, after which they are automatically eligible for Active Membership.
A letter from the Program Director of the approved vascular residency program stating that the applicant has been accepted into the residency program, or is currently a resident in vascular surgery, must accompany the application.

Admission to Candidate Membership is through administrative action by the Secretary of the Society.
Candidate Members are approved throughout the year. There is no application fee for Candidate Members. Annual membership dues invoices are sent in October.
Complete the online application for candidate membership OR download the candidate membership application (.doc). A letter from the program director of an approved vascular residency program stating that the applicant has been accepted into the residency program or is currently a resident in vascular surgery must accompany the application. There is no application deadline for Candidate Members; applications are reviewed throughout the year. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance within six to eight weeks after the completed application is received.
