In 2006, the (US) Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services established the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI), an incentive payment program for eligible professionals who satisfactorily report data on quality measures for services furnished to Medicare beneficiaries.
To participate in the 2010 PQRI program, eligible professionals may choose to report information on individual quality measures or measures groups. Eligible professionals who meet the criteria for satisfactory submission of PQRI quality measures data will qualify to earn an incentive payment equal to 2.0 percent of their Medicare Part B allowed charges for services furnished during that same reporting period.
