In accordance with the ACCME’s updated standards for commercial support we are required to verbally disclose conflict of interest for every presenter including stating nothing to disclosure. Each moderator can assist us with this requirement by either reading all disclosures before the start of their assigned session or reminding each speaker to disclose before they begin. A complete list of disclosures is located in the front of the program book. Program books will be available at registration.
Resolution of Conflict Prior to the Education Activity
- Prior to the presentation, each moderator will have resolved any conflicts for their assigned session during the planning process. Conflict has to be resolved by (a) reviewing the speakers’ disclosures as they relate to the content of the activity and provide a resolution to the identified conflict of interest such as substitution of speaker, (b) review of slides before the presentation, and (c) having a discussion to ensure that all presentations remain unbiased.
- During the presentation, the moderator must also monitor for objective presentation and be prepared to address any bias issues should it find its way in the presentation. Participants will be asked to evaluate if the session was free from commercial bias or promotion.
The moderator introduces the speakers, adheres to the schedule, and facilitates discussion. Moderators should be knowledgeable about the topic, able to field questions, and comment on the presentations.
