General Surgery Resident/Medical Student Travel Scholarships

SVS is funding travel scholarships to the 2012 Vascular Annual Meeting at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, National Harbor, MD (located just outside Washington, D.C.) for medical students and general surgery residents in the amount of $600 for a maximum of 96 awards.

These scholarships provide aspiring vascular surgeons with an opportunity to learn more about the latest treatments and research in vascular disease. During the meeting, trainees will be able to attend scientific sessions and network with leaders in the field. SVS will provide educational programming designed exclusively for students and residents. Scholarship recipients also will have the opportunity to participate in open and endovascular simulation training, a surgical skills competition, and a vascular surgery jeopardy competition. Scholarship recipients will need to confirm their attendance at the resident/student scholarship program each day in order to receive the travel funds. Funds will be reimbursed directly to the sponsoring institution (not the applicant) in July 2012. Please note local applicants are encouraged to apply for the scholarship in order to attend the simulation training session, but they will only be awarded a scholarship in name only for CV purposes (no funds will be awarded to local applicants).
