 W. Darrin Clouse, MD, FACS Elected to Distinguished Fellows Status, Society for Vascular Surgery  



CHICAGO─W. Darrin Clouse, MD, FACS, was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) at the 67th Vascular Annual Meeting® on May 30, 2013. His election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence.  
At the University of California, Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, he is a clinical professor of surgery. Dr. Clouse is a Colonel in the United States Air Force (USAF) Medical Corps. Within the Northern California Military Federal Vascular Surgery Service at David Grant USAF Medical Center and the Sacramento VA Medical Center (Mather) he serves as the chief of vascular and endovascular surgery, co-director of the Joint Heart, Lung and Vascular Center, and associate program director for vascular surgery fellowships and integrated vascular surgery residency at the three institutions.
Dr. Clouse also is a full professor of surgery in the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He also has clinical privileges at Mather VA Hospital in Sacramento.
He graduated with honors and received a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan., graduating with honors. His medical degree was received from the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minn. 
In addition to being a current member of many medical societies, he currently is a Malpractice Expert Reviewer in Vascular Surgery and served for six years as the military consultant for vascular and endovascular surgery to the Office of the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General.  He in on the Board of Governors for the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons and is president of the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, where he also is on an ad hoc committee for military vascular surgery.
Dr. Clouse also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Vascular Surgery® and is an associate editor for the Annals of Vascular Surgery. He also is a section editor for the upcoming 8th  edition of Rutherford‘s Vascular Surgery. He also is a co-author the Handbook for Patient Care in Vascular Diseases.
He has done more than 59 presentations at medical meetings; been invited 43 times to be a visiting professor or lecturer; has written 36 articles for peer-reviewed publications and 25 book chapters and subject reviews.
