CHICAGO – The Society for Vascular Surgery® Foundation presented the 2012 Resident Research Prize of $5,000 to Robert A. Brenes, MD, during the Vascular Annual Meeting® held June 6-8, 2012 in National Harbor, Maryland. The prize includes a one-year subscription to The Society of Vascular Surgery’s ® Journal of Vascular Surgery®.
Dr. Brenes is a general surgery senior resident at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. He completed a year of basic science research at Yale. Dr. Brenes’ project title was entitled, A Novel Mouse Model of Hind Limb Ischemia to Test Therapeutic Angiogenesis.
The Resident Research Prize is intended to motivate new physicians to pursue vascular research. The prize recipient is invited to present his/her research results at the Society for Vascular Surgery’s Vascular Annual Meeting in June. The next Vascular Annual Meeting will be held May 30 – June 1, 2012 in San Francisco, California.
To be eligible for the prize, the resident must be enrolled in a training program in the United States or Canada, be sponsored by a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, and be participating in original or experimental research.
