July 11, 2012 Contact: Sue Crosson-Knutson 312-334-2311 scknutson@vascularsociety.orgCHICAGO – The Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) presented its prestigious Medal for Innovation in Vascular Surgery to Roy Greenberg, MD, of the Cleveland Clinic during the June 6-8, 2012 Vascular Annual Meeting® held at National Harbor, Maryland.
Dr. Greenberg is the Director of Endovascular Research and the Cleveland Clinic Peripheral Vascular Core Laboratory. He holds more than 50 patents developing endovascular devices for aortic disease especially within the field of complex endograft repair.
The recipient of Cleveland Clinic’s Master Clinician Award (2009) and the Cleveland Clinic Innovator Award four years in a row, Dr. Greenberg has authored or co-authored several books, more than 200 articles and more than 50 medical textbook chapters.
A member of the editorial board for several medical journals, Dr. Greenberg is a reviewer for many journals including: Circulation, Lancet, Journal of Vascular Surgery, and Journal of the American College of Surgeons.
Candidates for the SVS Medal for Innovation in Vascular Surgery must be individuals whose contribution has had a transforming impact on the practice or science of vascular surgery. Since inception of the award in 2006, only three other SVS members have received the Medal for Innovation in Vascular Surgery: Thomas J. Fogarty, MD; Juan Parodi, MD; and Timothy A. Chuter, MD.
