CHICAGO – The Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) elected Rabih Chaer, MD, as a Distinguished Fellow during their Vascular Annual Meeting® held June 16-18, 2011 in Chicago.
The designation of Distinguished Fellow is bestowed upon an active, international, or senior member of the Society for Vascular Surgery who has made substantial, sustained contributions in two of three categories – research, service, or education. The application process requires three letters of support from SVS Distinguished Fellows.
As an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Chaer is also the Associate Residency Program Director – Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is board certified in both vascular and general surgery. He maintains membership in seven medical societies.
Dr. Chaer is currently involved in six ongoing clinical trials. He is a past reviewer for the Journal of Vascular Surgery®, and two other medical journals. He has authored or served as contributing author on 73 articles and 13 book chapters. He has presented medical information at 40 symposia. He has also presented four invited talks.
Educated at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, Dr. Chaer received his medical training at: the American University of Beirut; University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago. His vascular surgery fellowship occurred at: New York-Presbyterian Hospital; Cornell University, Weill Cornell Medical College; and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
