 Networking Sections

The Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) offers membership in the following networking sections:

General Surgery Resident Section

The General Surgery Resident Section serves as a platform for general surgery residents to gain access to valuable vascular surgery career resources and promote a network of similarly interested residents. Members include graduates of medical schools in the United States, Canada, and internationally, with a current status as a resident enrolled in a training program focused on general surgery.

Please note: General surgery residents who are accepted into an accredited vascular surgery training program in the U.S. and Canada and current residents in 0+5 and 3+3 vascular surgery integrated residency programs are eligible to become SVS candidate members. SVS general surgery resident members are charged a US$25 one-time payment for the duration of their general surgery residency. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Medical Student Section

SVS offers a Medical Student Section as a platform for medical students to gain access to valuable vascular surgery career resources and promote a network of similarly interested students. Members of the Medical Student Section include students from medical schools in the United States, Canada, and internationally. SVS Medical Student Section members are charged a US$25 one-time payment for the duration of their medical school career. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Physician Assistant Section

The SVS Vascular Surgery Physician Assistant Section serves as a platform for physician assistants to gain access to valuable vascular surgery resources and promote a network of similarly interested physician assistants. Physician assistants automatically become a member of the Section when approved as a SVS Affiliate Member.

Affiliate membership benefits, section members:

  • Have the opportunity to participate in a dedicated physician assistant networking event with SVS leadership at the Vascular Annual Meeting®
  • Have the opportunity to participate in a physician assistant educational program at the Vascular Annual Meeting or a SVS skills course
  • Receive a quarterly vascular surgery physician assistant e-newsletter
  • Take advantage of information specific to your interests as a physician assistant on a dedicated area on VascularWeb.org
  • Have the opportunity to apply for the Distinguished Physician Assistant in Vascular Surgery Designation

Apply for SVS Affiliate Membership and upon acceptance, become a member of the Physician Assistant Section.

Vascular Surgery Trainee Section

Vascular surgery trainees automatically become members of the SVS Vascular Surgery Trainee Section when they are approved as SVS Candidate Members. Section members are limited to those Candidate members currently enrolled or accepted into accredited vascular surgery residency training programs in the United States and Canada. They remain section members until their training is completed. Candidate membership applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Apply to become an SVS Candidate member and upon acceptance, become a member of the Vascular Surgery Resident Section.
