The deadline for all membership applications (except for surgical residents or fellows applying for Candidate Membership) is March 1 annually.
There are seven membership categories:
| Candidate |
Physicians who are currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited vascular surgery residency training program |
| Active |
Physicians who have demonstrated an active interest and excellence in the field of vascular disease |
| International |
Physicians who reside outside North America who otherwise are qualified for Active Membership |
| Associate |
Non-vascular surgeon physicians, including podiatrists and scientists, who have a demonstrated, active interest in the field of vascular disease. |
| Affiliate |
Non-physicians who have a demonstrated active interest in the field of vascular disease |
| Senior |
SVS members who have retired from the practice of vascular surgery |
| Honorary |
Distinguished physicians who have achieved international prominence in the vascular field |
Distinguished Fellow Designation
Current SVS Senior, Active, and International members who have distinguished themselves by sustained contributions to vascular surgery may apply for the title of Distinguished Fellow.
