Those in vascular surgery training programs automatically become SVS Candidate members. The annual dues are waived and it is not necessary to complete an application. If you have questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Eligibility and Acceptance
The Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery (APDVS) program directors and coordinators are asked to provide their vascular trainees’ information annually in July. Trainees are then automatically enrolled into Candidate membership within the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS). Candidate members are not required to pay dues and receive a complimentary subscription to the Journal of Vascular Surgery® while in training. Once enrolled, new member materials, including access to the members only site, will be sent to each Candidate member’s institutional email address.
The term of Candidate Membership is limited to a maximum of three years after completion of a vascular residency program or subsequent continuous academic or clinical training, after which candidates are automatically eligible for Active Membership once board certified. Visit the Active Membership page for additional information on the application process.
- Candidate Members receive a discounted meeting registration for the Vascular Annual Meeting®, which is held in June, and are invited to attend the annual Members Reception. However, members are responsible for their own transportation and lodging expenses
- Candidate Members will receive regular correspondence from the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS), including the SVS Pulse and Vascular Specialist. Candidate Membership also includes a subscription to the Journal of Vascular Surgery®
- Candidate Members may not attend the Annual Business Meeting and do not have voting privileges
Please visit the Residents and Fellows pages for more information about networking opportunities for the needs of Candidate Members.
