Scope of Work
- Monitor issues of special concern to members in the first five years of practice and advise
Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) leadership on ways the Society can better meet the needs of this membership constituency
2012-2013 Charges
- Identify educational, practice management, and other needs of young vascular surgeons
- Develop leadership training and mentor programs for young surgeons through collaboration with the Fellows Council and other relevant Committees
- Identify ways to improve young vascular surgeon representation within the SVS' leadership and committee structure
- Identify ways to increase the number of Candidate members among Active members
- Identify ways to improve communication and interaction among young vascular surgeons, fellows, residents, and medical students
- Develop Vascular Annual Meeting® educational programming and networking activities for young vascular surgeons and trainees
- Develop online practice memos on topics addressing the needs of young vascular surgeons and fellows
- Address unique challenges faced by young surgeons through SVS communications venues including Journal for Vascular Surgery®, Vascular Specialist, VascularWeb.org®, Vascular Annual Meeting, etc.
- Collaborate with the Resident and Student Outreach Committee, Women's Leadership Committee, and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee to recruit students and residents into vascular surgery
- Collaborate with other Committees / Councils on programs and products directed at young vascular surgeons
