 Women's Leadership Training Grant

Deadline: April 16, 2012

The Women's Leadership Committee of the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) periodically awards a women's leadership training grant for female vascular surgeons. The grant is presented at the Vascular Annual Meeting®.

SVS will grant a maximum of three awards per year.

Financial Support

The Women’s Leadership Training Grant, in the amount of $5,000, is supported by a grant from W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. Please note annual funding of $15,000 has been provided by W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. in order to support a maximum of three awards per year.

Examples of leadership training opportunities include personal leadership coaching, traveling to meet women leaders, or specific training programs such as:

Selection Criteria

  1. Currently in practice (must have completed training).
  2. Current SVS member.

Application Procedure

  1. Complete an application form.
  2. Submit a letter of intent (two pages or less) that indicates how you would use the award to advance personal leadership training and specific career goals.
  3. Provide a curriculum vitae.
  4. Include three complete publications (reprints or manuscripts.)
  5. Submit two letters of recommendation. One letter must be from the chair of the department in which an academic appointment is held; one letter from a colleague.
  6. All applications and related materials are due April 16, 2012.

Recipient’s Report to Committee

Within three months of completing the Women's Leadership Training Grant program, the recipient should prepare and forward a report to the SVS Women’s Leadership Committee. The report should be one to two double-spaced typewritten pages and should summarize activities during the leadership training period. Although factual statements of activities should be included, recipients are encouraged to place these within an overall context of the impact on professional and personal development. Any publication of the leadership training activities should acknowledge W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. and the SVS Women’s Leadership Committee.
