Scope of Work

• Promote a supportive environment for women vascular surgeons
• Foster professional development by networking, identifying mentors, and advancing the representation of women in the committees and governance of the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS)

2011-2012 Charges

• Conduct an educational session and networking reception at the Vascular Annual Meeting®
• Identify ways to promote SVS female members into SVS leadership positions
• Develop leadership training initiatives for SVS female members such as leadership awards
• Collaborate with the Student and Resident Recruitment Committee to recruit female physicians into vascular surgery, addressing unique needs of practicing female surgeons such as breakfasts at regional vascular society meetings
• Address vascular disease in women through SVS communications venues including Journal of Vascular Surgery®, Vascular Specialist, VascularWeb.org®, Vascular Annual Meeting, etc.
• Address unique challenges faced in the specialty by female vascular surgeons through SVS communications venues including Journal of Vascular Surgery®, Vascular Specialist, VascularWeb.org®, Vascular Annual Meeting, etc.
• Collaborate with Young Surgeons Committee and Vascular Surgery Trainee Section to establish mentor program with female vascular surgeons and trainees
