Scope of Work 

  • Oversee SVS activities concerning basic and clinical research including research education and development, datasets and registries, comparative effectiveness research, relationships with government agencies and industry
  • Liaison with SVS Foundation research activities
  • Liaison with (US) National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CMS, AHRQ and other governmental agencies involved in vascular research
  • Liaison with industry regarding research initiatives of Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS)
  • Annually reviews research section of VascularWeb and advise staff on content
  • Coordinate and oversee activities of reporting committees

    • 2011-2012 Charges 

  • Develop and publish clinical research priorities in vascular disease
  • Manage Clinical Research Endorsement Program and evaluate implementation of program for industry trial endorsement
  • Implement SVS Planning Grant mechanism
  • Monitor SVS datasets/ registries including utilization and development of FDA Master Access Files
  • Monitor research initiatives utilizing the CLI objective performance goals dataset
  • Support SVS members' response to vascular disease-related research grant opportunities
  • Monitor interaction with FDA, AHRQ, NHLBI, CMS and industry on research issues
  • Monitor and promote research education opportunities for SVS members and trainees (Vascular Research Initiatives Conference, AHA Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, Vascular Annual Meeting)
