Scope of Work

  • Oversee the ongoing business affairs of the Society’s print and electronic publications including:  Journal of Vascular Surgery, Vascular Specialist, Rutherford Textbook, Vascular Trauma Book, VESAP, Coding Manual and VascularWeb.
  • Direct the process of recruiting and evaluating editors and publishers when directed by the Board of Directors.
  • Make recommendations to the Board of Directors on resource requirements, budgets and the status of operations.

Charges for 2011 – 2012

  1. Conduct a strategic planning session for the future of SVS publications, including JVS; make recommendations to Board of Directors
  2. Conduct 3-year review of JVS editors
  3. Oversee process of contract renewal with JVS editors
  4. Determine whether SVS should publish a quarterly venous journal under the JVS name
  5. Determine process for recruiting new editor for Vascular Specialist
  6. Determine oversight mechanism for Vascular Specialist content
  7. Determine approach to partnership with Elsevier on next edition of Rutherford Textbook
