The Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) recognizes the growing importance of vascular surgery worldwide. As of August 2011, there were SVS members in 47 countries.
International Membership
SVS International membership is available to surgeons outside the United States and Canada. The online application deadline is March 1 annually for review by the Membership Committee. Applicants are approved at the membership business meeting held during the Vascular Annual Meeting® in June.

Vascular Annual Meeting
The Vascular Annual Meeting®, held every June, is the premier scientific and educational meeting for vascular surgeons in the United States and Canada. SVS offers a reduced registration fee for international attendees from most countries outside the United States, Canada, and Western Europe. A reception is held for international attendees during the meeting.
International Scholars Program
A competitive scholarship program provides grants to young vascular surgeons to attend the Vascular Annual Meeting and visit medical and university sites following the meeting to observe clinical, teaching, and research activities in the United States and Canada. The scholarship program is funded in part by the Haimovici Endowment.

How to Develop a SVS Chapter
To establish a chapter, there must be 15 SVS members in the country or region, and proposed bylaws must be approved by the SVS Board of Directors. SVS believes closer ties among vascular specialists worldwide will benefit the specialty by providing a global perspective. Procedures to establish an international chapter.
World Federation of Vascular Societies
The World Federation of Vascular Societies annual meeting is held June 2011 during the Vascular Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL, USA. the meeting will feature faculty from throughout the world.
International Relations Committee
The SVS International Relations Committee initiates and oversees SVS international activities.
