Scope of Work
- Oversee Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) health policy activities, including all federal legislative and regulatory issues affecting vascular surgery and the Coding and Reimbursement Subcommittee
2011-2012 Charges
- Determine SVS positions on legislative/regulatory issues that have an impact on vascular surgeons and their patients
- Continue developing a grassroots network of vascular surgeon key contacts
- Monitor and participate in advocacy/communications efforts for Medicare physician payment reform that benefits vascular surgery, including the removal of the Sustainable Growth Rate formula
- Monitor and participate in advocacy/communications efforts for overall health care reform that benefits vascular surgery, which includes removing barriers to AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm) screening, averting additional cuts to ultrasound screening, repealing IPAB, and supporting comprehensive medical liability reform
- Monitor and participate in federal/state advocacy efforts for sonographer credentialing and monitor state efforts
- Participate in the Joint Surgical Advocacy Conference
- Annually reviews health policy and government relations section of VascularWeb and advise staff on content
Reporting Subcommittee
Coding and Reimbursement Subcommittee staffed by Trisha Crishock and Jan Martin
Participate in RUC and CPT Editorial Panel meetings representing the interests of vascular surgeons
Comment on administrative actions such as NCCI edits, national and local coverage decisions
Provide content and faculty for SVS education efforts on coding nd reimbursement
Report on actions during Health Policy Committee conference calls
