Davies Is Awarded the 2007 Health Policy Scholarship
Dr. Mark G. Davies has been awarded the 2007 Health Policy Scholarship, which is co-sponsored by the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery. His award of $8,000 will make it possible to attend the intensive course entitled "Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management," offered by Brandeis University, Waltham, Mass. This program is specifically designed with surgeons in mind, and will be held June 3-8, 2007. Following completion of the course, Dr. Davies will spend 1 year as a pro tem member of the Health Policy Steering Committees of both the College and the Society, advising and assisting both as requested.
SVS Attends the American Medical Student Association Residency Fair & Specialty Showcase
SVS recently attended the American Medical Student Association's Residency Fair & Specialty Showcase to introduce medical students to the exciting new changes in the vascular surgery specialty. SVS members Dr. David H. Deaton and Dr. James Laredo were on hand to welcome students and explain and highlight these changes.
SVS Members Give Vascular Surgery Presentations at Various Medical Schools
Over the last few months several SVS members have given presentations to medical student groups to introduce them to the vascular surgery specialty, available training programs, and various SVS resources to help in their career decision making. A number of presentations were recently given.
