Tormod S. Westvik, MD, Yale University School Of Medicine Resident, New Haven, Conn., Presented Resident Research Prize By The American Vascular Association
CHICAGO (July 15, 2008) —
Dr. Tormod S. Westvik was presented the American Vascular Association (AVA) Resident Research Prize at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Society for Vascular Surgery on June 5, 2008. The Resident Research Prize is intended to motivate physicians, early in their training, to pursue their interest in research and offer the opportunity to present their research at the Vascular Annual Meeting.
Dr. Westvik is enrolled in the general surgery residency program at Yale University School of Medicine. He was chosen for the Resident Research Prize for his work examining how the effects of aging on arteriogenesis may help explain why older adults tolerate acute ischemia more poorly than younger patients.
The Resident Research Prize includes a $5,000 award and the opportunity to present the winner’s work at the Vascular Annual Meeting and have it published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery.
