Student And General Surgery Resident Scholarships To Attend The 2008 VAM

Dear Chair of Vascular Surgery:

Do you know of a medical student or general surgery resident who has expressed an interest in vascular surgery?  You can provide your aspiring surgeon with an opportunity to learn more about the latest treatments and research in vascular disease by attending the 2008 Vascular Annual Meeting in San Diego, June 5-8. The Society for Vascular Surgery is funding travel scholarships for students and residents in the amount of $1,000 each. All you need to do is nominate your trainee for a scholarship.

At the Vascular Annual Meeting, trainees will be able to attend all scientific sessions and network with leaders in the field.  SVS leadership will host a welcome reception on Wednesday, June 4; special lunch programs on June 5, 6, & 7, will be provided for students and residents to learn more about vascular surgery careers. Medical students in their third or fourth year and general surgery residents in their first, second or third year who have demonstrated a sincere interest in vascular surgery are eligible. To nominate a medical student or resident for this scholarship, simply complete the application form and fax to SVS at 312-334-2320 or mail to the address on the application by Monday, April 7. 

PLEASE NOTE:  SVS will pay the $1,000 scholarship to the sponsoring vascular surgery program, not the student and/or resident.   Please be sure to complete the “make check payable to” line on the attached form.  Checks will be issued after the program and recipients’ attendance to the meeting will be confirmed on site.
