Vascular disease is among the leading causes of death in the U.S., yet is generally asymptomatic until a catastrophic event occurs, such as a stroke or aneurysm rupture. Although preventive screening is available, millions of Americans at risk for stroke or death from vascular disorders remain unaware of their risk. SVS Proposed Policy on Carotid Artery Stenting
The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) represents over 2,300 physicians in the United States. SVS submitted a letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding the Proposed Decision of the Medicare National Coverage Policy for percutaneous transluminal angioplasty of the carotid artery with stenting, CAG-00085R3.
