Ruth L. Bush, MD, MPH, Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, Elected to Distinguished Fellows Status, Society for Vascular Surgery
CHICAGO (June 26, 2007) —
Dr. Ruth L. Bush was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) at the 61st Vascular Annual Meeting on June 7, 2007. She is an associate professor of surgery at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Dr. Bush’s election was based upon her scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence.
“We are proud to include Dr. Bush as a distinguished fellow in the Society for Vascular Surgery,” said K. Wayne Johnston, MD, SVS president. “She exemplifies the qualities and commitment to excellence our membership subscribes to in vascular health care.”
Dr. Bush is an author of more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and 17 book chapters in clinical vascular surgery. She serves on the editorial boards for the Journal of Vascular Surgery and the Journal of Endovascular Therapy and was an associate editor of the 2004 Yearbook of Vascular Surgery. She received the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award from the vascular residents at Baylor College of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Bush also recently completed a National Institute of Health’s K-12 Mentored Clinical Research Scholar Award on her research interests in the area of women’s
vascular health.
In addition to her dedication to the SVS, Dr. Bush is involved with the American College of Surgeons, American Venous Forum, Association for Academic Surgery, Association of Women Surgeons, International Society for Endovascular Specialists, Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, Society for University Surgeons, Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound.
