Mark K. Eskandari, MD, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Elected to Distinguished Fellows Status, Society for Vascular Surgery

CHICAGO (June 28, 2007) —

Dr. Mark K. Eskandari was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) at the 61st Vascular Annual Meeting on June 7, 2007. He is an associate professor of surgery in the division of vascular surgery, as well as the department of radiology, at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill. His hospital appointments include attending surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Ill., and part of the medical staff at both Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, Ill. and Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Evanston, Ill. Dr. Eskandari’s election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence.

Dr. Eskandari has published over 52 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 21 chapters, as well as given numerous presentations at regional and national meetings. He has received several research awards including the 2005 E.J. Wylie Traveling Fellowship. Additionally, Dr. Eskandari received the 2005-2006 Excellence in Teaching Award from the Feinberg School of Medicine, department of surgery. He also developed the carotid stenting program at Northwestern in 2001 and serves as a Principle Investigator for the CREST trial.

In addition to his dedication to the SVS, Dr. Eskandari is involved with the American College of Surgeons, Central Surgical Society, Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society, Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery and Society for University Surgeons.
