Brajesh K. Lal, MD, UMDNJ–New Jersey Medical School, Elected to Distinguished Fellows Status, Society for Vascular Surgery
CHICAGO (July 02, 2007) —
Dr. Brajesh K. Lal was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) at the 61st Vascular Annual Meeting on June 7, 2007. He is assistant professor of surgery and physiology at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, N.J. and assistant professor of biomedical engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. His hospital appointments include attending surgeon at the UMDNJ-University Hospital in Newark, N.J., VA-New Jersey Healthcare System in East Orange, N.J., Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. and the St. Michaels Medical Center in Newark, N.J. Dr. Lal’s election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence.

Dr. Lal has been awarded numerous research prizes and grants including the Jobst Vascular Research Forum from the American Venous Forum (2000), the Young Investigators Award from the Eastern Vascular Society (2002) and the Faculty Research Award from the American College of Surgeons (2003). He has published 58 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has authored 15 book chapters, as well as given numerous presentations at regional and national meetings.
In addition to his dedication to the SVS, Dr. Lal is involved with the American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association, American Medical Association, American Venous Forum, Eastern Vascular Society, International Society for Vascular Surgery, Microcirculatory Society, Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, and the Society of University Surgeons.
