Carlos E. Donayre, MD, Harbor/UCLA Medical Center, Elected to Distinguished Fellows Status, Society for Vascular Surgery
CHICAGO (August 11, 2009) —
Dr. Donayre was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) at the 2009 Vascular Annual Meeting® in June. He is a professor of surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Donayre also is a research physician at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Center at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Calif. He is on staff in the department of surgery at the Professional Staff Association of Los Angeles, Harbor Medical Center in Torrance, Calif. Dr. Donayre’s election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence.
Dr. Donayre has been a principal investigator or sub-investigator in 21 commercially-sponsored clinical studies and six commercially-sponsored basic science studies. He is credited with 87 peer-reviewed publications, 29 book chapters and as co-editor of “Endoluminal Vascular Prostheses.” In 2004 Dr. Donayre received the Faculty Teacher of the Year Award/Department of Surgery Award from Harbor-UCLA.
In addition to his dedication to the SVS, Dr. Donayre is involved with the American College of Surgeons, American Venous Forum, International Society for Endovascular Surgery, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, Southern California Vascular Surgical Society, and the Western Vascular Society.
