Joseph A. Caprini, MD, MS, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Evanston, Elected To Distinguished Fellows Status, Society For Vascular Surgery
CHICAGO (June 18, 2008) —
Dr. Joseph A. Caprini was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) at the 62nd Vascular Annual Meeting on June 5, 2008. He is a professor of vascular surgery at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Glenview, Ill. Dr. Caprini’s election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence.
“We are proud to include Dr. Caprini as a distinguished fellow in the Society for Vascular Surgery,” said G. Patrick Clagett, MD, SVS president. “He exemplifies the qualities and commitment to excellence our membership subscribes to in vascular health care.”
Dr. Caprini is the primary or co-author of more than 330 published abstracts and publications. He also has served as a reviewer for many prestigious journals including Chest, Circulation and the Journal of Vascular Surgery and is on the editorial boards of Venous Digest, Phlebologie and Phlebology. Dr. Caprini has given over 1,000 presentations, primarily on venous thrombosis prophylaxis, at the national and international level, as well as to numerous local and regional groups.
In addition to his dedication to the SVS, Dr. Caprini is involved with the American College of Phlebology, American College of Surgeons, American Venous Forum, Association for Academic Surgery, Central Surgical Association, International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis, International Union of Angiology and the Western Surgical Association.
