
PHILADELPHIA (June 01, 2006) —
Dr. Peter K. Henke was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) at the 60th Vascular Annual Meeting on June 1, 2006. He is the assistant professor of surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery, University of Michigan School of Medicine, Ann Arbor, Mich. His election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities, and broadly recognized teaching excellence.

Regarded as a surgeon’s surgeon, Dr. Henke has served as chief of the Vascular Surgery Service at the University of Michigan Veterans Hospital and has maintained a large personal practice at the University Hospital. He won a number of teaching awards, most prominent the William W. Coon Award for Outstanding Clinical Resident Education in 2003. He has been the primary author of large series published by the University of Michigan and authored many additional papers. His particular interest is in risk factor modification of lower extremity disease.
In addition to his dedication to the SVS, Dr. Henke is an American College of Surgeons fellow; and is active in the Jefferson County Medical Society, Hiram c. Polk, Jr. Surgical Society, Association for Academic Surgery, Michigan Vascular Surgery Society, Frederick A.
