Vascular Annual Meeting

President's Welcome Letter

Dear Colleagues,

The Society for Vascular Surgery is pleased to invite you to its 62nd Annual Meeting, to be held June 5-8, 2008 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif. This event promises to live up to its reputation as the premier annual meeting for vascular health professionals. The Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, the Society for Vascular Nursing and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound will meet in conjunction with the SVS.

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that the World Federation of Vascular Societies (WFVS) will hold their Second Annual Meeting in conjunction with the 2008 Vascular Annual Meeting. The WFVS Annual Meeting on June 4 provides a forum for the international exchange of scientific, educational and political issues related to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of vascular diseases. Participants can attend informative sessions such as Education in Vascular Surgery: Critical Issues Around the Globe and The Future of Vascular Surgery in the World – Now! Those registered for the 2008 Vascular Annual Meeting are able to attend the WFVS Annual Meeting at no additional cost.

The Vascular Annual Meeting agenda also includes exciting scientific presentations and breakfast sessions from the work of top vascular surgeons. On June 4, the Postgraduate Courses Day will offer participants the option of choosing from six, three-hour modules. Modules feature various topics of importance to the professional development of practicing vascular surgeons such as Advanced Endovascular Procedures: Are There Limits to the Scope of Our Endovascular Practice?, Business Aspects of the Vascular Laboratory, and Dialysis Access: Creation and Maintenance of 2008.

On June 5-7 attendees can choose which of the two breakfast sessions they want to attend each day. Course topics range from Venous Disease and IVC Filters to Endovascular AAA Repair: What’s New?

We also are pleased to again offer the always-exciting Clinical Debates on June 7. These sessions will cover hot topics in vascular surgery such as CAS vs. CEA and TEVAR vs. Open Operation for Good Risk Patients.

True to the nature of making this the premier event for vascular specialists through collaboration, there will be a Joint Scientific Sessions with the European Society for Vascular Surgery on June 6 and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound on June 7.

In addition to offering an excellent array of scientific presentations on cutting-edge topics, the 2008 meeting also will offer many special networking events, such as the Vascular 2008 Reception on June 5, which will feature “A Taste of California Wine”- showcasing wines from the world renowned California wineries.

While at the meeting you’ll want to keep an eye out for daily session coverage in the issues of Vascular Connections.

We look forward to welcoming you to San Diego!
