On September 14-15, held in conjunction with the UCLA Vascular Symposium, APDVS is offering vascular trainees two interactive lunch sessions as a forum to identify and discuss current issues in vascular surgery. A preliminary program agenda and housing reservation information can be found below.

Vascular Training: Current Stresses, Ways to Improve, Untapped Avenues
Interactive Luncheon Session                           
Moderators: Michael Dalsing, MD and John Eidt, MD

This session will explore the Fellows’ feedback on various training aspects including: avenues for educational enhancement; volume and types of cases; duty hours; continuity of care; and areas of perceived deficiencies or needed improvement such as knowledge of coding, business aspects of vascular surgery, etc. Other topics of interest will be covered as determined by survey responses and new areas of educational opportunities the APDVS is exploring. The interactive portion of the session with Fellows is of paramount interest.

The Education and Business of a Vascular Lab and/or Venous Practice
Interactive Luncheon Session                 
Moderators: Michael Dalsing, MD and Thomas Wakefield, MD

This session will explore the practical business and educational needs of the vascular specialist who wishes to participate in the administration and interpretation of an accredited vascular laboratory. It also will highlight the current interest in a venous practice. The session will investigate current education in these areas of vascular care, what may be lacking both in an educational and practical sense, and how such deficiency might be remedied. Lastly, it will cover what it takes to start a venous practice or vascular laboratory as a component of your vascular practice.

  • Check-in time is 4:00 pm; check-out time is 11:00 am, after 11:00 am, additional charges will apply.
