Candidate Membership

How to Apply

Complete the online application for candidate membership. If you have any questions or cannot complete the online application, call 800-258-7188 or email membership@vascularsociety.org.

A letter from the program director of an approved vascular residency program stating that the applicant has been accepted into the residency program or is currently a resident in vascular surgery must accompany the application. There is no application deadline for Candidate Members; applications are reviewed throughout the year. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance within six to eight weeks after the completed application is received.

Eligibility

Candidate membership may be granted to physicians who are currently enrolled or accepted into accredited vascular surgery residency training programs in the United States and Canada. The term of Candidate Members is limited to a maximum of three years after completion of their vascular residency program or subsequent continuous academic or clinical training, after which they are automatically eligible for Active Membership.

A letter from the Program Director of the approved vascular residency program stating that the applicant has been accepted into the residency program, or is currently a resident in vascular surgery, must accompany the application.

You must have the following information and materials available:

• Academic history and postgraduate training details, including dates attended and degrees earned.
• A letter from the program director of an approved vascular residency program stating that you have been accepted into the residency program or are currently a resident in vascular surgery. You can upload this letter as a Word document or PDF or mail a hard copy. The mailing address is noted on the online application form.

Benefits

• Candidate Members receive a complimentary meeting registration for the Vascular Annual Meeting, which is held in June, and are invited to attend the annual Members Reception. However, members are responsible for their own transportation and lodging expenses.
• Candidate Members will receive regular correspondence from the Society, including the SVS Pulse and Vascular Specialist. Candidate Membership also includes a subscription to the Journal of Vascular Surgery.
• Candidate Members may not attend the Annual Business Meeting and do not have voting privileges.

Admission to Membership

Candidate Members are approved throughout the year. There is no application fee for Candidate Members. Annual membership dues invoices are sent in October.
