Terms of Use for patient education materials

Copyrighted by NorthPoint Domain and the Society for Vascular Surgery

NorthPoint Domain and the Society for Vascular Surgery provide this online patient education through a joint licensing agreement for personal use by patients, physicians, and other health care professionals.

Copyright

All copyrights for the patient education content are solely owned by NorthPoint Domain. All copyrights for patient education illustrations are solely owned by the Society for Vascular Surgery. Licensing allows use of this educational material only through the Society of Vascular Surgery Web site (www.VascularWeb.org).

Users

Users may view the patient education materials online or print a reasonable number of copies for personal/educational, non-profit use only. Users must not remove copyright notices from the materials. No part of the patient education library, including the listing of articles, can be rewritten, modified, redistributed, linked to or linked from another Web site, or used for any commercial purpose without prior written permission from NorthPoint Domain.

Image Permissions
The patient education materials, including patient images, the Society for Vascular Surgery logo, the Vascular Web logo, and the NorthPoint Domain logo, cannot be used without prior written permission.

With written permission, up to three patient education images can be reproduced by charitable organizations, medical residents, and students at no charge. To reproduce more than three images by charitable organizations, medical residents, and students, images can be purchased at $100 per image. To reproduce patient education images for all other usage, images can be purchased at $250 per image.
 
Users must not remove copyright notices from the materials. All reproduced images must contain the following notation by the images: “Image(s) reproduced by permission from the Society for Vascular Surgery. For more information, visit www.VascularWeb.org.”

 

Links to and from

Third-party web sites wishing to direct patients to VascularWeb.org for patient education materials are granted permission to direct users to one topic only or to the entire library of patient education materials; no combination of the two is acceptable for patient direction to the Web site. NorthPoint Domain and the Society for Vascular Surgery request that third-party web sites direct patients via an external hyperlink. Third-party Web sites must include the following direction sentence: "For patient education information, please visit www.VascularWeb.org." No logo can be used as the link without prior written permission.

Permission for linking to patient education materials is granted automatically to National Library of Medicine's MedlinePlus.

The patient education is for informational purposes only. The patient education is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Patients and consumers reading articles posted on the Society for Vascular Surgery website should review the information carefully with their professional health care provider. Patients should consult with a qualified healthcare provider for medical advice or other healthcare assistance.
