Edward Y. Woo, MD, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Elected to Distinguished Fellows Status, Society for Vascular Surgery
CHICAGO (August 13, 2009) —
Dr. Woo was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) at the 2009 Vascular Annual Meeting® in June. He is an assistant professor of surgery and the vascular surgery fellowship program director at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Woo is an attending physician at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Presbyterian Medical Center, and the Veterans Administration Hospital, all in Philadelphia. He also is the medical director of the Rhoads 1 Unit at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Woo’s election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence.
Dr. Woo has published 40 peer-reviewed publications and is an editorial board member of Endovascular Today. He serves as a principal investigator for several ongoing carotid and aortic endovascular FDA-approved clinical trials at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Woo also has been an invited lecturer at many regional and national vascular meetings. In 2003 he received the Jonathan E. Rhoads Research Award and the Leonard J. Perloff Chief Resident Teaching Award.
In addition to his dedication to the SVS, Dr. Woo is involved with the American College of Surgeons, Delaware Valley Vascular Society, Eastern Vascular Society, International Society for Vascular Surgery, and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery.
