Peter F. Lawrence, MD, Professor of Surgery, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Elected SVS Vascular Annual Meeting Program Chair
CHICAGO (July 08, 2009) —
Dr. Peter F. Lawrence was elected 2009-2010 Vascular Annual Meeting® program chair of the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) during the Vascular Annual Meeting on June 12, 2009. This marks his second term as program chair.
Dr. Lawrence serves as a professor of surgery, chief of the division of vascular surgery and the Bergman Professor of Vascular Research at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has hospital appointments at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences and the UCLA/Santa Monica Medical Center.
Dr. Lawrence currently serves on the editorial boards of the journals Perspectives in Vascular/Endovascular Therapy, Vascular and Vascular & Endovascular Surgery. He previously served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Vascular Surgery® and Contemporary Surgery. He is the current president of both the Association of Chairs in Vascular Surgery and the Southern California Vascular Surgery Society, as well as a past president of both the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery and the Western Vascular Society.
In addition to his dedication to the SVS, he is involved with the American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Surgical Association, Los Angeles Surgical Society and the Pacific Coast Surgical Association.
Dr. Lawrence earned his medical degree at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass. and completed his Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, N.Y.
