Scott Berceli, MD, PhD, University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla., Elected to Distinguished Fellows Status, Society for Vascular Surgery
CHICAGO (August 10, 2009) —
Dr. Scott Berceli was elected to distinguished fellow status of the Society for Vascular Surgery® (SVS) at the 2009 Vascular Annual Meeting® in June. He is an associate professor of surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. Dr. Berceli also is the chief of vascular surgery at the Malcolm Randall Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center and a staff physician at Shands Hospital, both also in Gainesville, Fla. His election was based upon his scholarly research activities, creative professional activities and broadly recognized teaching excellence.
Dr. Berceli has published over 45 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Berceli is a reviewer for Annals of Biomedical Engineering, Gene Therapy, Journal of Surgical Research, Journal of Vascular Research, and the Journal of Vascular Surgery®. He has received numerous research awards, including the 2004 William J. von Liebig Award. Dr. Berceli is the recipient of the University of Florida’s 2003 Lester R. Dragstedt, Physician-Scientist Award and the 2007 S. Timothy String Presidential Award from the Southern Association of Vascular Surgery.
In addition to his dedication to the SVS, Dr. Berceli is involved with the American College of Surgeons, American Heart Association – Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Council, Association for Academic Surgery, Association of Veterans Affairs Surgeons, Florida Medical Society, and the Southern Association of Vascular Surgery.
